INGREDIENTS
– Chicken – 800 gm
– Salt to taste
– Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
– Lemon juice – 1 tsp
– Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
– Ghee – 2 tbsp
– Refined oil – 1tbsp
WHOLE SPICES
– Jeera – 1 tsp
– Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
– Black pepper corns – 5
– Cloves – 4
– Green cardamom – 3
– Bay leaf – 1
– Onions – 4 (finely chopped)
– Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
-Green chillies -2 (chopped)
-Tomatoes – 3 (chopped)
– Salt to taste
-Turmeric powder -1/4th tsp
– Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
– Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
– Garam masala – 1 tsp
– Fresh coriander – 1 tbsp (chopped)
METHODS
1) In a mixing bowl, add the chicken, salt, red chilli powder, lemon juice and ginger garlic paste, mix and marinate it for 30 minutes.
2) Set a kadai on medium heat, add oil, ghee and the whole spices, mix and sauté it for 1-2 minutes.
3) Add onions and cook until golden brown.
4) Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies sauté it for a minute.
5) Add tomatoes and salt, cook until the oil is released and tomatoes are mushy.
6) Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes, if the masala gets too dry add a splash of water to prevent the masala from burning.
7) Add the marinated chicken, cover and cook for 8-10 minutes till oil is released.
8) Now add 200 ml water, give a mix and cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.
9) Add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves mix and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
10) TARI WALA CHICKEN is ready to serve hot with rice, roti etc.
