This is an authentic bengali fish recipe and goes extremely well with steamed rice. The mustard in adds a very unique flavor and richness to the dish.

INGREDIENTS
– Parshe Mach (Mullet Fish) – 8 pc
– Onion paste – 2 small
– Tomato paste – 1 small
– Mustard Seeds paste – 2 tsp
– Nigella seeds – 1/4 tsp
– Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
– Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
– Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
– Green chilli paste- 3 nos
– Green chilli slit – 4 nos
– Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp.
– Salt- As per taste
– Sugar- As per paste
– Mustard oil – 5 tbsp
METHODS
1) Marinate the parshe mach with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp salt.
2) In a blender jar add 2 tsp mustard seeds and 3 green chilli add little water and blend to a smooth paste.
3) Heat a pan add 3 tbsp mustard oil . When it start to smoke lightly low the flame and add fish pieces into oil one by one and fry both the side gently .
4) Add 2 tbsp oil in same pan & add 1/4 tsp nigella seeds once it splutters add onion paste fry till become golden brown.
5) Add tomato paste saute for 2-3 mins .
6) Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, kashmiri red chilli powder and salt mix well & saute until oil separate from side.
7) Now add mustard seeds paste and saute for 2-3 mins.
8) Add 1 cup water & 1/4 tsp sugar mix well . When water become boiling add fried fish and slitted chilli .
9) Close the lid and cook in medium flame for 5 mins .
10) After 5 mins open the lid and add 1 tsp mustard oil and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and turn off the gas oven.
11) Close the lid for 3-4 mins. Your parshe macher jhal is ready to serve hot with steamed rice .
