ILISH COCONUT MASALA CURRY

This is an authentic bengali fish curry which every bong craves for. Absolutely delicious super easy to make and extremly rich and smooth in texture. Combine it up with steam rice and it’s a delish then.

INGREDIENTS
-Ilish mach / Hilsha fish – 5-6 pieces -Coconut grated – 1 cup
-Onion chopped -1 medium size
-Garlic – 5 cloves
-Green chilli – 5 Nos
-Nigella seeds – 1/4 tsp
– Mustard oil – 5 tbsp
-Turmeric powder-1 tsp
-Salt -As per taste
-Sugar – As per taste
PROCESS
1) First marinated the fish with 1/2 tsp salt & 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
2) In grinder jar add 1 cup grated coconut ,1 chopped onion, garlic 5 cloves , green chillies 5 nos and 1/2 cup water grind into a fine paste.
3) Heat a pan add 3 tbsp mustard oil when it start to smoke lightly low the flame & add fish pieces into oil one by one and fry them for a minute on each side . Remove on to a plate & set aside.
4)Add 2 tbsp oil in same pan & add 1/4 tsp nigella seeds once it splutters add in prepared coconut onion paste saute 2 mins. Then add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder & salt mix well & saute until oil separates from side.
5) Now add 1 cup water &1/4 tsp sugar mix well when water become boiling add fried fish pieces & 2 slitted green chillies mix well & close the lid cook in medium flame for 10 mins
6) After 10 mins your ilish coconut masala curry is ready.
